In Search of New Dog Food for Fritz

Purina Dog Food Company has changed the formula for the second time in a year on the dog food that Mom’s dog, Fritz, eats…Rats! Fritz has special dietary needs, less than 4% fat content, due to his bout with pancreatitis last December. We almost lost him. So off Mother and I go in search of a new dog food he will eat.

 

We first stopped at Tractor Supply in Griffin to check on the availability of the ‘Blue’ brand of dog food Mother had researched online. We purchased a couple of cans to try. While browsing we found a previously unheard of brand call ‘Taste of the Wild’. It contained no grain products whatsoever, most unusual in pet foods since so many of them have corn meal as a major ingredient. We chose two flavors; Bison & Venison and Alaskan Salmon. I can’t believe our luck, Fritz adores the Bison flavor. It has so many good things in it besides bison and venison; potato chunks, peas, blueberries. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it agrees with him.

After our pet food purchases I had to whiz into Wal-Mart and get a few things. I helped Mother get inside, she is still recovering from total knee replacement in July, and ensconced her on a bench where she could ‘people watch’ while I ran the gamut to fill my buggy with listed items. By the time I was through my leg was hurting, Wal-Mart is so big and you don’t dare go back to the other side of the building if you forgot something in that area, just too much walking! Thankfully it was not as hot as the week before and a nice breeze was blowing.

Anyway we both were worn out when we got home and unloaded. Mother laid down for a nap and I had some lunch…I was starving. I was so tired the rest of the evening that I did not even have the energy to do the ‘Net Check-In’ on my 2 meter radio at 2100. That new adventure will have to be the topic of another post sometime. I now have my General License to operate a Short Wave or Ham Radio.
