I saw two wild turkeys fly across the road as I was leaving home this afternoon. In the 29 years I have lived here at the Cottage I have never seen wild turkeys before. This makes me wonder where they have been, has their habitat become so small now that they are forced out into the open? They were lovely creatures and I was surprised that they could fly so well. I pray they will be safe and prosper.***On my journey towards Atlanta this afternoon a driver was being reckless on the road, passing on a double yellow line and even passing on a hill where he could not see oncoming traffic and driving way too fast for the area we were in. This angered me, but I could not wish ill on the driver, but hoped he would realize the danger he put everyone in by his actions. He soon sped out of site and I continued on my way. Shortly after entering traffic on I-75 North I saw the flashing blue lights of a patrol car. Whom do you think had been pulled over for some offence? Yes, you are right, it was the reckless driver. So in this instance it seems justice prevailed and luckily he didn't injury himself or any other innocent driver.***Snow showers on my travels to Atlanta today. The flakes whirled round and round and at times were so thick so as to appear as thick as a fog. Thankfully the did not stick on the roads or ground. But I have to admit it was pleasant to see them.
Finding really nice tasting fresh strawberries at the grocery store in the dead of winter and they are buy one get one free, even better.***Seeing the crisp photos of the snow at my Mom's house that my cousin emailed me. I can almost feel the big fat wet flakes, the chill on my face if I walked outside to play in the snow and hear the plop plop of melting snow falling from the roof. Burr***The Moon was beautiful here at the Cottage last night. Very few clouds, brillant stars and the nearly full moon shining brightly overhead. The air was cold and clean smelling, damp from the rain of the night before. One can depend on the temperatures taking a nose dive tonight.
Sitting in my comfortable armchair at the side of a crackling fire in my fireplace. The night is cold and damp with drizzle expected. The heat radiating from the coals in the fire warms my bones right down to the marrow. Sometimes that is the only real relief I can get during these cold days from the ache in my knees.***Getting a parcel from Amazon.com. I had ordered a book on Camping skills that was highly recommended at a survival website I frequent. It was originally published in 1901. The volume looks chocked with useful information and humorous stories of camping misadventures. I do love getting a new book and immersing myself in the story or information contained within.Sadly, I am a greedy reader and can't read as fast as my brain wants to soak up the information.***Purchasing an electric heater to use upstairs in my Studio. This is where I work on the computer and scrapbook and has often been so cold that my fingers are freezing and toes chilled so much that I have to stop what I am doing and just go to bed to get warm. With the heater now I can type away in comfort.
The flowers are opening on my Daphne odorata shrub and the fragrance is divine, it is sort of a cross between lemon and the smell of a magnolia. The shrub is sadly still sitting in his original pot near the back door. Daphne's are very particular about the amount of drainage they require and I have not decided on a good location for him yet.***Finally seeing dear friends online at a chat room I visit several times a day and never find anyone there to chat with. My fingers fly so fast trying to chat that I always have to back up and correct my spelling errors.***The feeling of accomplishment one derives when painting with a antique white color paint on trimwork. I always feel as if I am applying whipping cream to the wood and delight in smoothing it out so that no brush strokes show.
Hearing way off in the distance the sound of a flock of canadian geese flying this way, running out the door to watch them coming nearer and nearer...listenening to their calls as they wing enroute to the lake they nest at near my home. Sometimes they swoop so low I can almost feel the rush of wind from their wings.***The pounding sound of a cold rain against the roof while I lay snuggled deep in my bed covers...safe from the elements. I am so grateful to have a warm place to live.***Once again being on the south side of an ice and sleet storm that came through the North and Middle Georgia area.
